The Braveheart Cycling Fund Ride Sportive returns after a nine-year hiatus, following its last event in 2016. Proceeds support young Scottish cycling talent, allowing participants to help nurture future champions. The fund provides financial support for aspiring Scottish cyclists to train and compete at their highest level.
The Ride also enables participating cyclists to ride alongside several invited international cycling stars. It promises to be a memorable day, with participants travelling across the UK to support the event. Guest riders will be announced closer to the event.
On Saturday, 18 October 2025, the Braveheart Cycling Fund Ride (Sportive) will start from St. Joseph’s Academy/Leisure Centre (event HQ), Grassyards Road, Kilmarnock, at 10:00. Registration will open at 8:30.
The main course takes in some of the attractive scenery on offer in East Ayrshire. Leaving Kilmarnock, the route travels via Galston, Newmilns, before the climb over Windyedge & down to Sorn. Another climb out of Sorn, towards Muirkirk, then turning left through Cronberry to Auchinleck & Catrine. Some further climbing on these quiet country roads, then takes us northwards back to Galston, where we retrace our outward route back to the start/finish on Grassyards Road in Kilmarnock.
