Over the coming weeks, we will be introducing our special guest riders who will be attending the Braveheart Cycling Fund Charity Dinner and Ride.
We’re delighted to announce that Brian Smith will be joining us at this year’s Braveheart Cycling Fund Charity Dinner in Kilmarnock!
The Braveheart Cycling Fund was initially established by former pro cyclist and Olympian Brian Smith and his friend Alan Miller in 2003 to generate essential funds for young Scottish cyclists. Throughout its tenure, it distributed over £500,000 to promising young Scottish cyclists. The Fund organised fundraising events like dinners, auctions, and charity rides, with Alan Miller playing a key role in arranging these special occasions.
Brian remarked at the time, ”It was our goal to support talented young cyclists who are aiming for a career with a professional continental road team; we also support track cyclists and mountain bikers who are aiming for the Olympics and world championships in their disciplines.” Smith added, ”The fund was not established to give riders long-term financial assistance. Our role was to help them progress to the next level.”

Brian Smith is a Scottish cycling commentator and former pro road racer from Paisley. A two-time British National Road Race Champion (1991, 1994), he raced for teams including Banana–Falcon and Motorola, represented Scotland at the Commonwealth Games (1986, 1990, 1998) and Great Britain at the 1996 Olympic road race.
Smith is best known today as a pundit/analyst on Eurosport/Discovery+ (now TNT Sports in the UK), where his tactical commentary and rider-manager perspective have made him a regular voice on Grand Tours and the classics.

We are delighted to carry on the legacy that Alan and Brian started all those years ago. Join us in welcoming Brian to Kilmarnock at the Braveheart Cycling Dinner & Ride on October 18th.
Proceeds from the evening will directly support initiatives that offer opportunities for young riders to enhance their skills, reach their potential, and continue the proud tradition of Scottish cycling.
Save the date: October 18th. Spread the word and be part of an unforgettable evening!
