Celebrated Cycling Author Chris Sidwells to Attend Braveheart Cycling Fund Charity Dinner

The Braveheart Cycling Fund is proud to announce that renowned cycling journalist, historian, and author Chris Sidwells will be a special guest at this year’s Braveheart Cycling Fund Charity Dinner in Kilmarnock on Saturday, 18th October.

Chris Sidwells has become one of the most recognisable voices in cycling literature, with over 27 books published covering everything from bike repair and training to the legends of the sport. His works, including the Bike Repair Manual, The Complete Bike Book, and the acclaimed Cycling Legends series, have inspired cyclists worldwide. Beyond his writing, Sidwells brings a unique perspective as the nephew of British cycling icon Tom Simpson, ensuring that his storytelling is rich in history and personal insight.

Chris’s mission is to tell the untold stories and reveal the unseen pictures of cycling’s past and present.

Alongside his writing, he commentates on races, host talks and events across the UK (including the Tom Simpson Cycling Festival), and co-host the Cycling Legends Podcast. I also feature as a guest on other podcasts – most recently on Sir Bradley Wiggins’ Café Aficionado.

Guests at the dinner will have the opportunity to hear from Chris directly, as he shares his passion for the sport, his behind-the-scenes knowledge of cycling’s outstanding figures, and the ongoing importance of supporting young talent.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Chris Sidwells to our charity dinner,” said Kathy Gilchrist. “Chris has played a vital role in chronicling the history of cycling, and his presence will add something very special to the evening. His support highlights the spirit of community and mentorship that the Braveheart Cycling Fund is built upon.”

Chris has also kindly donated two of his books, Cycling Legends: Tom Simpson and Cycling Legends TI Raleigh Cycling’s First Superteam for our charity auction.

Join us in welcoming Chris to Kilmarnock at the Braveheart Cycling Dinner & Ride on October 18th.

Proceeds from the evening will directly support initiatives that offer opportunities for young riders to enhance their skills, reach their potential, and continue the proud tradition of Scottish cycling.

Save the date: October 18th. Spread the word and be part of an unforgettable evening!
